Tempe St. Luke's Hospital holds free open house to help women take control of their health and live their best lives

Free Event on Thursday, Nov. 9 Provides Tips for Every Life Stage, Along with Free Car Seat Checks

Despite the undeniable benefits of greater health awareness, women are still putting their health on hold. To bring greater attention to good health at every age, Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital’s Women’s Services Department is hosting a FREE open house on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“Between raising kids, running their households and nurturing successful careers, women are notorious for putting themselves and their health on the bottom of their to-do lists, if they even make it onto the list at all,” said Manisha A. Purohit, M.D., FACOG, Obstetrics/Gynecology at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital. “To take better care of themselves and their families, women need to be self-aware of their unique health needs at every life stage, along with the actions they can take now to ensure a long and healthy life.”

While enjoying giveaways, pampering experiences, and healthy refreshments, attendees will have a chance to learn more about women’s wellness exams and screening services, including breast exams and 3D ultrasounds. Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital will also be offering complimentary flu shots on a first-come, first-served basis (quantities limited). As well, they will have a chance to meet physicians and members of the women’s services care team who can answer health questions that are top of mind for women in their 20s through to their 90s.

“From a young woman thinking of starting a family to an older adult experiencing the effects of menopause, women’s health needs vary greatly,” said Dr. Purohit. “Our goal is to help answer some of the common questions, provide tools and resources they can use, and demystify some of the important screenings available.”

In addition to delving into wellness issues at every life stage, the open house will provide access to resources that can help women to take better care of their families, including free car seat safety checks by Tempe Police.

Attendees can also receive information about the myriad support services offered by the community hospital, including information about pregnancy care, and tours of the hospital and birthing suites. The Women’s Services team will also share details about the hospital’s new Baby Box initiative, which is offered to families of newborns to promote safe sleep habits in an effort to reduce deaths caused by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. As well, the team will offer details about the hospital’s range of minimally-invasive gynecological surgery for women of all ages.
